Target Audience
Oncologists, Neuro-Oncologists, Pediatric Oncologists, Neurosurgeons, Radiation Oncologists, Neurologists, Pathologists, Oncology and Neuro-oncology trainees, Oncology nurses and Nurse Practitioners. There is a pediatric focus to the presented material.
Statement of Need/Program Overview
Nomenclature related to neurofibromatosis syndromes has recently changed from type 1 and type 2 to neurofibromatosis type 1 and NF2-related schwannomatosis. Along with these changing terms, management of NF-related inherited syndromes and their associated tumors has advanced to include targeted treatment and new strategies. In this webinar, we will discuss the major tumor types associated with both conditions and how management of tumors and these syndromes as a whole has advanced, through a variety of case presentations and an expert panel discussion.
Educational Objectives
After participating in this CME activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify the range of tumors associated with neurofibromatosis and NF2-related schwannomatosis.
- Discuss the work-up for these tumors and recent advances in surgical and medical management.
- Develop counseling for families and patients on overall management and surveillance recommendations for NF-related conditions.
